Senior Social Democrats

Senior Social Democrats were initially called Senior Moderates and created as a separate wing of the party during The Moderates general assembly in March 2001. It was headed and later chaired at a time by Enn Tarto, a parliament member. Later in July they were offically incorporated and the board and its chairman were elected. Enn Tarto became its first Chairman. When the party’s name was changed to Social Democratic Party in 2004, their name also changed to Senior Social Democrats. It provides a framework for cooperation between all senior members and focus on the following:

- encouraging other senior social democrats to be more active in politics
- contributing to the achievement of the party goals
- encouraging other senior members to learn more about politics and society
- engaging in civic education
- involving the elderly into politics and electoral process through senior programs
- bringing together diverse groups of elderly in our society
